Each school in the State of Florida has a SAC. By law, each SAC must be composed of the principal and an “appropriately balanced” number of “stakeholders.” These individuals must be representative of the ethnic, racial and economic makeup of the community served by the school. Stakeholders may be parents, teachers, students, administrators, support staff, business/ industry people and other interested community members.
The majority of SAC members (over 50 percent) must not be employed by the School on whose SAC they serve.
The purpose of a SAC is to assist in the preparation and evaluation of the school improvement plan (SIP) and the Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP). This supports the efforts of our Title I program as well.
The SAC is subject to the Sunshine Law - in that all of their meetings must be posted, minutes taken and the work/plans they develop are public docments that are posted or made available when asked. The MAS SAC is oversighted by the MAS Governing Board.
